Pre-school education
Start your children early, stage 1 from ages 0-3 years old then on to stage 2, 3 to 6 years old, fees are paid for 0-3 years but state schools offer free childcare for ages 3 to 6 years.
Spanish schools
State education is free to all EU citizens from the ages of 6 to 18 years old although here you will have to pay for essential items such as books, pens, sportswear and anything else that is deemed necessary for your child’s education.
As in the UK you will need to live in the correct catchment area for your desired school therefore choosing a home in the schools catchment should be a priority.
International schools.
Even the Spanish prefer these schools as the lessons are taught in both Spanish and English, you will find many different nationalities being taught in various international schools and every year many people bring their families to live in Marbella, the search starts at the beginning of the year to find a property near the chosen school then the children are ready to begin in September.
The British schools here tend to follow the same curriculum and offer grades such as A level and GCSE’s, the class sizes are much smaller than the Spanish schools thus providing each individual with better care and understanding.
