'Costa Tropical's Tourist Offices Shine with an 'S' for Sustainable Tourism Triumph!'
In a remarkable achievement, the tourist offices of Almuñécar and La Herradura in the charming province of Granada have been bestowed with the coveted 'S' for Sustainable Tourism standard. This esteemed recognition, accredited by the Spanish Institute for Tourism Quality (ICTE), applauds their unwavering commitment to embracing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within their realms.
This remarkable accolade places Almuñécar and La Herradura's tourist offices at the forefront of sustainability, making them only the second of their kind in the entire Spanish nation to receive such an honor. 'We're not just talking about quality and safety anymore,' remarked Daniel Barbero, the acting deputy mayor and a dedicated advocate for tourism and pristine beaches. 'Modern-day travelers have raised the bar and are demanding a greener, more conscientious approach from government bodies, corporations, and the tourism industry alike. The UN's Sustainable Development Goals for the 2030 Agenda serve as our guiding light, outlining the path for economic, business, and tourism policies in the years ahead.'
Drawing inspiration from these commendable goals, Almuñécar and La Herradura Tourism have prioritized specific SDGs, such as Goal 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, promoting sustainable cities and communities. Additionally, they have embraced Objective 12: Responsible Production and Consumption, and Objective 14: Underwater Life, aligning seamlessly with the remarkable Parque Azul de Vida Submarina (Blue Park Underwater Life) project.
'We're well aware that there's still plenty of work ahead of us, but we're determined to forge ahead and improve,' declared Juan José Ruiz Joya, the dynamic acting mayor of Almuñécar. 'This challenge is ours to embrace. We accept this commitment and responsibility wholeheartedly, not only to our beloved destination and its enchanting surroundings but also to our residents, visitors, the environment, and society at large.'
Joya continued, his eyes shining with determination, 'Sustainable tourism and its subsequent certification bring forth a multitude of advantages. We witness the elevation of our destination's image and reputation, the enhancement of our socio-cultural and environmental fabric, and the improved management and efficiency of our activities, ensuring optimal resource utilization.'
As the sun-kissed Costa Tropical basks in this triumphant moment, it serves as an inspiration to tourism havens far and wide, reminding us all that embracing sustainability is not just an obligation but a gateway to a brighter, greener, and more prosperous future for all who call this planet home.
