June looks set to be an exciting month for anyone who has just invested in any of the plentiful and desirable property for sale in El Madronal or elsewhere in and around Marbella. That’s because the programme for the 8th-14th June San Bernabe fair has just been announced, with David Bustamante and Antonio Orozco set to play free concerts.
The programme was presented by festivities councillor Diego Lopez, in the company of the Party Queens and Maids of Honour. He explained that it will actually be 31st May when festivities get underway with the Romeria de San Bernabe pilgrimage, the handing out of churros and chocolate being followed by a procession to the shrine in Nagueles, where there will be a mass.
The mayor will switch on the fairground lights at Parque Francisco Cuevas Blanco in June to signify the beginning of the main fair. An opening speech will be given by local Michelin chef Dani Garcia and the crowning of the queens and maids of honour will take place, prior to a firework display on El Faro beach.
On 9th June, Dia del Niño (Children’s Day) will be held at the fairground, featuring a children’s party and discounts on rides. Bustamante will perform on 10th June, and on Thursday 11th June – the day of the patron saint of Marbella – there will be religious ceremonies and a procession in San Bernabe’s honour. Friday 12th June will see Orozco give his free concert, and then on Saturday, Marbella residents and visitors will be able to take in competitions and dance shows at the fairground.
The fair will be wrapped up on Sunday 14th June, with a bullfight scheduled featuring Dave Galan, Pedro Gutierrez and Javier Orozco. A full programme is downloadable from www.marbella.es/fiestas, and provides plenty to look forward to for the owner of Marbella property – not least those who have purchased from the wide range of property for sale in El Madronal with One Marbella’s help.
The announcement of the fair programme comes as it has also been revealed that a new reality TV show, akin to The Only Way is Essex (TOWIE), is being filmed on the Marbella coast. Life on Marbs is an unscripted 12-part series set to air later this year, when it is sure to demonstrate once more that there’s always something interesting going on in this part of the Costa del Sol!
