Specsavers Fuengirola: Giving the Gift of Sight to Communities in Need
For millions of people across the world, poor vision is a daily struggle due to a lack of access to basic eye care services. Thankfully, organizations like Lions Club International are working hard to collect unwanted and old glasses, process them, and distribute them to communities in need. And in Fuengirola, Specsavers Opticas has been doing their part since 2007.
On Thursday, April 24th, the President of the Mijas Lions Club, Fernando Juanes, arrived at the store to collect a staggering 1,700 glasses. This donation will undoubtedly make a significant impact on the lives of those in areas that desperately need access to glasses.
But Specsavers Fuengirola isn't stopping there. They have set an ambitious goal to collect an additional 5,000 glasses by the end of 2023. And they're calling on the community to help them reach that goal.
David Bradshaw, a representative of Specsavers Fuengirola, expressed gratitude to everyone who has already donated glasses, but emphasized the need for continued support. "This not only gives the gift of sight to someone who doesn't normally have access to eye care but also is a great way to recycle and ensure that your glasses don't end up in the bin or landfill," he said.
So if you're in the Fuengirola area, consider dropping off your old, unwanted glasses at Specsavers Opticas. Not only will you be helping those in need, but you'll also be doing your part to reduce waste and promote sustainability.
Visit their location on Avenida Ramón Y Cajal 6 (near the bus station) or check out www.specsavers.es to find other locations and opening times. And who knows? You just might be giving the gift of sight to someone in need.
